Mudflaps
The after bouncing a piece of gravel off of a friend's windshield, I decided
mudflaps were in order. The Ford ones looked OK but hardly hung down at all and didn't
look real effective. Found a few aftermarket alternatives but I ended up ordering a set
of "factory" ones from Centurion. They were only $20 plus a little for the stainless anti-sails
(they also offered diamond plate antisails) and are quite nice.
They wanted $90 for the
brackets so I passed. I was able to very easily mount them right to the fender. The smaller
screws are the factory ones that hold on the splash shield. I added 2 bolts that go into exiting holes in the
leftover single rear wheel opening metal (yes, factory DRW trucks use a hacked SRW bed - I'll post
pics of this tomorrow) and then 2 more bolts that just hold it to the plastic splash sheild. At
first I was going to try and come up with some elaborate bracketry to hold them in place, but
this actually ended up mounting them VERY sturdily to the truck and I've got no worries
about yanking them off accidently.
